The book talks about the story of a young couple and the biased norms of our society.
At the press launch, Mahesh Bhatt shares his love for reading and his support towards young talent and Dino Morea confesses if he was given a chance to act in a biopic, it would be of Mahesh Bhatt! Here are the highlights of the event.
Nostalgia will transport you back to your childhood, to your frequent visits to your Grandmama’s house, for the food, for the vibe and for the comfort. Grandmama’s Cafe impresses, the moment you walk in, with their embroidered photo frames, white walls, white couches and floral bill boxes. Expect a waiting time of one hour atleast, as getting a table here, is as time consuming as getting money out of the ATM (current scenario). Although, the experience is worth the wait.
Nutrition Power House
We dropped by to try out their specially crafted Diabetic Friendly menu for the Diabetic Food Trail. It comprised of items from their regular menu, some as they were, some with some minor tweaks. The Diabetic Food Trail® is a pioneering initiative which offers a wonderful culinary experience to Diabetics, Pre-Diabetics and Health conscious individuals at over 200 restaurants across Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore & Pune. A set menu, we started our meal with the salads. The Caesar Salad, the only change being, no croutons, was fresh and light. With or without croutons, we are definitely having this again. Although if you’re looking for something to pack a power punch, try the Nutrition Power House Salad – Quinoa, barley, pomegranate, goat cheese, rocket leaves tossed in a lemon dressing. So yum yet so healthy.
Moving on, the small plates from their all day menu, were extremely impressive. We tried the Mushroom A La Plancha – mushrooms tossed on a griddle with garlic, olive oil and sweet balsamic. Addictive, delicious and worth a try. The Gambas Al Ajillo – prawns with garlic, olive oil, chilli and basil, were tasty too, not the best we’ve had though. Not to miss the Kejriwal Grandmamas Style – bread topped with egg, mushroom and green chilli cheese sauce, we wish we woke up to this for breakfast every day!
The Pan Seared John Dory and the Home Style Grilled Chicken were next on our tasting platter. Both cooked to perfection and delicious. By the end of our meal, we were quite full, though we saved some space for dessert and thank god for that.
From their regular menu and not a part of the Diabetic Food Trail, we ordered for the Gobstopper – flourless chocolate layered with mousse and stuffed with marshmallows. Yes you read that right! We could easily conclude that this is one of the best, most decadent desserts in the city.
At the end of our meal all we said was, we can’t wait to try the rest of our menu, so we’re definitely going back there.
P.S.: If you’re starving and want to grab a quick bite, then maybe you should leave this place for another day. But if you are looking to indulge, Grandmama is calling out to you today.

We recently visited the much talked about Chinese restaurant at Sun N Sand, Mumbai – Haochi. Run by celebrity chef Gautam Mehrishi, this one exceeded our expectations! Everything we had here was amazing, no wonder the restaurant was pack at lunch hour on a weekday.Here’s a glimpse of our meal!
Great Wall Martini
The drinks were impressive. Bombay Fizz was extremely stiff and one drink could be good enough to get you in high spirits. The Great Wall Martini is a fusion of gin, pineapple and passion fruit, tangy and delicious. They don’t disappoint the teetotalers either. Look at the fancy presentation of a non-alcoholic beverage!
Char Siu Bao
Crispy Peking Duck served with Hoi Sin sauce and Julienned Greens
The appetizers at Haochi are absolutely delicious. The Char Siu Bao or the pork buns melted in the mouth. The Crispy Peking Duck went well with the Hoi Sin sauce. Also, one of the must try dishes at Haochi is the Lotus Root, vegetarians, you will love this! The Soba noodles and Buttery rice pairs up excellently with most of the mains.
Chocolate Lava Cake
Mandarin Orange Infused Creme Brulee
The exciting range of desserts were something that we left enough space for. The Chocolate Lava Cake, emmm, sinful, an overdose of chocolate. The crackling Creme Brulee with Mandarin orange infused was fruity and refreshing. The Almond Yogurt on the other hand was light and a perfect way to end the meal!
Overall, Haochi lives up to the meaning of its name – Simply Delicious! We totally recommend this one!
We were recently invited to attend a workshop by twice Michelin-starred Spanish Chef Sergi Arola, at Arola, JW Marriott by HT Cafe. The chef shared some of his favourite recipes along with some tricks and tips. Here are some snapshots of the dishes along with the recipes. If you want to try any of these dishes, they are available at Arola.
Patatas Bravas Ingredients: 5 potatoes 1 litre sunflower oil 5 fresh tomatoes 1 fresh red chilli 1 egg 3 garlic cloves 1 tsp lemon juice 5 tbsp olive oil n Salt to taste Black pepper powder to taste 2 springs fresh parsley Method: Cut the potatoes into exact halves. Scoop with a pineapple corer, and then scoop at the centre with a small scooper. Put the potatoes in a tray and cover them with sunflower oil. Cook in the oven at 1500°C for 45 minutes, and then remove. For the spicy tomato sauce: In a pan, heat olive oil, add crushed garlic cloves and sauté. Add chopped fresh red chilli, sauté and add chopped tomatoes. Cook for one hour over slow flame. Season the sauce and blend. For garlic aioli: In a bowl, break the whole egg, add chopped garlic, lemon juice and salt, mix well and start whipping it; add olive oil slowly to form an emulsion, whip till the aioli is firm, then season it. Deep fry the potatoes, take out on a paper towel and sprinkle with salt. Fill the centre with spicy tomato sauce and top with garlic aioli. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley.
Tandoor Lobster Ingredients: 1 lobster 100 gms almond flakes 100 gms black olives 1/2 cup cream 2 garlic cloves 5 pieces rigatoni pasta 1 tbsp spicy tomato sauce 1 tbsp olive oil Fresh oregano for garnish Salt to taste Black peppercorns to taste Method: Remove the lobster meat whole from tail. Marinate with olive oil, salt and crushed black peppercorns. Slice the black olives and roast them in the oven at 1200°C till dry. Cool them down and blend to powder. Toast the almond flakes with crushed garlic clove, add cream and simmer till almonds are cooked. Puree in the blender and strain with fine strainer. Blanch the rigatoni pasta in boiling salted water. Roast the marinated lobster in a tandoor till cooked. Remove and cut. Toss the blanched rigatoni with olive oil, chopped garlic and spicy tomato sauce. In a plate, sprinkle black olive powder and put the lobster on it. Put the rigatoni on each piece of lobster. Garnish with fresh oregano leaves. Serve the warm almond cream on the side.
Crema Catalana Ingredients: For orange form 500 ml milk 500 ml cream 1 stick cinnamon 10 gms orange peel 10 gms lemon zest 150 gms sugar 150 gms egg yolk 20 gms orange sorbet For Mousse 50 gm Marie biscuit 200 ml milk n 100 gms sugar 100 gms cream
Method : Make a Marie biscuit mousse from all the above ingredients in martini glass. Prepare the orange form by combining all the ingredients in a saucepan and bring to boil maintaining the temperature at 40°C. When the mixture reaches the required temperature, remove from fire strain and cook in an oven at 10°C for 20 minutes for steam. Then remove it, cool it down and add it to a nitrogen can. Finally, take the martini glass in which the mousse is set, then put one quenelle of orange sorbet. Put the orange form and sprinkle sugar syrup over it. Gratinate and serve. (Recipes via HT Cafe)
If you’ve stayed for over a month in Mumbai, you must’ve realized how hard it is to manage with or without the rickshaws! You can’t survive without them cause they are supposed to be one of the most convenient modes of transport and you can’t survive with them cause the most annoying lot of people have been given the responsibility of riding it.
I have come across some of the worst and hence I’m compelled to share this post with our readers. Here are some categories that I have divided them into; they could fall into one or more of these categories.
Richie Rich: Have you ever been a victim of ‘Madam chuttha nahi hai, sirf 500 ka note hai’ scenario? This one will never have change and will ask you for exact Rs 128.50! How do you get it is your headache, cause I’m not getting off my seat Tees Maar Khan: If without seeing the Tariff Card, the rickshaw wala tells you, the meter reading interprets to Rs 67, something is fishy. Make sure you pay only after re-checking the card, cause in most cases the guy is trying to con you.
Mr.Google Maps: He will insist that he knows a shorter way to get to your destination, no matter how much you argue. What you should do is, be more persistent!
Racer Pacer: He will cut lanes, speed up on roadblocks, pace into one-ways and disobey all kinds of traffic rules. He would rather believe in the phrase ‘Time is money’ over ‘Better Late than Never’.
The Newspaper: He will make conversations, give you gossip and will know everything that’s happening in the world. From Bigg Boss to Kapil Sibal, he knows it all. Dear traveller, you’re in for some good entertainment.
Pichkaari: He slows down every few minutes to spit out his paan, supari, gutka and the likes. Sick and disgusting as he maybe, don’t forget to remind him of social responsibility before you get off!
Cow, Cow, Holy Cow: Especially when you’re late, you will get this one. You would probably reach faster if you rode on a cow. As soon as you realize that, 30kmph is the fastest he can go, run for your life. Stop wherever you are and shift into a faster vehicle or you will actually have to witness bicycles overtaking you.
The Lecher: He is the one with the multi-purpose rear-view mirror. He will occasionally adjust it, not to see the vehicles coming in from behind, but to get a better view of the passenger seat. Creeps, deserve a kick, where it hurts!
Refusal King: Last, and clearly the worst. The number of times he would say no for your destinations would probably be more than the number of times a bollywood actress would, when confronted about her relationships. From excuses like, ‘Gas nahi hai’ to ‘Rickshaw wapas dena hai’, he would do anything to get away.
